'Iron Man' 4 Not Happening? 'Captain America: Civil War' Directors Say Iron Man Will Disappear When Robert Downey Jr. Leaves

The rumors that Robert Downey Jr. is going to leave his iconic character as Iron Man and "Iron Man 4" is not happening have been surfacing for quite awhile. Directors of "Captain America: Civil War," Anthony Russo and Joseph V. Russo, reveals that if Robert Downey Jr. ever leaves, Iron Man will just disappear.

"I think if and when he is done with the character, I think you will find that Iron Man might disappear for a while," the Russo brothers say. The Russo brothers add that it is quite impossible to replace Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, according to Blastr.

Robert Downey Jr. is one of the biggest stars in the Hollywood and his single close-up shot can be equivalent to other actor's entire performance. For Anthony Russo and Joseph V. Russo, Robert Downey Jr. is "incredibly great and insanely talented."

Joe Russo explains that the only way to replace Robert Downey Jr. is to give the Iron Man character a proper time to remove the impression of the 50-year-old actor in it. Blastr also reports that Joe Russo adds that there are a lot of Marvel characters that can continue the Marvel Universe's story without seeing Iron Man for quite awhile.

The Russo brothers say that Iron Man might rest for a cycle before they get another actor to fit the role. Robert Downey Jr. is already 50 years old and there is a big chance that he's about to leave the Iron Man role.

The Russo brothers another directorial film, "The Avengers: Infinity War," is set to be finished in 2019 and Robert Dowey will be in his late 50s that time. Speaking about "Civil War," the Russo Brothers also reveals that "Captain America: Civil War" might have "three post-credit scenes," Independent reports.

"We can't say who is going to be in it but we can say that there certainly could be one, or two, maybe three [post-credits scenes]," Anthony Russo and Joseph V. Russo say. "We can confirm that you should stay sat in your seats when the movie is done."

"Captain America: Civil War" is set to hit the theaters on May 6 in the United States.
