Chinese Parents Build 'Zootopia' Dream House For 6-Year-Old Son

A 6-year-old boy in China is living in a Zootopia-inspired residence built by his parents. Despite the ideal lifestyle in a countryside-like setting, both the boy's mom and dad claim that they belong to a middle-class family.

According to the South China Morning Post, little Chen Xi is enjoying activities in their countryside home like grilling corn, feeding birds and harvesting vegetables. His mother, Xiao Jun, said that she and her husband have always wanted to live an idyllic rural life.

She explained that they did not move to the countryside but instead purchased a farmland as big as three football field in Harbin in Heilongjiang province five years ago. They started building their dream house and a weekend getaway for their then newborn son.

It was also noted in the South China Morning Post that the family also added animals in their backyard. Some of the animals in their home are three dogs, three horses, chickens, a sheep and ducks. Even though it is obvious that the family is well-off, Xiao Jun explained that they are not wealthy.

"Buying a small farm is actually cheaper than buying a Ferrari," she explained. "But you can't put a price on home like this for a young boy."

The setup is very similar to the Disney movie Zootopia which features an animal city where different animal species live. It centers on rabbit Judy Hoops, who is the first rabbit to be part of the police force. IMDB said Hoops started to learn that enforcing the law is a tough task.

The movie has become very famous in China and has reportedly increased the illegal sale of foxes in the country. Online sellers have been offering Fennec foxes for a price of US$15,340, as per the Beijing Post. However, it was noted that the sale of this endangered species is prohibited in the country.
