'Final Fantasy XIV' Character, Items Coming to 'Phantasy Star Online 2'

Most people will consider that “Phantasy Star Online” and “Final Fantasy” are rival games. But, what will you get when the two combine? A lot of happy fans.

Well, a lot of fans will surely be happy because Sega announced during a “Phantasy Star Online 2” event held in in Tokyo Ariake Colosseum that “Phantasy Star Online 2” will have a collaboration with “Final Fantasy XIV Heavensward,” reports 4gamer (via Kotaku).

It is reported that “FFXIV” producer Naoki Yoshida was invited as a secret guest to the event, where the surprise announcement was made. The announcement was made using a video shown on a giant screen.

The announcement video showed that the “FFXIV” version of Odin will appear in “PSO2” as a boss character that players have to fight. It sounds really cool, and the thought that playing and getting thrashed by his “Zantetsuken” is even more exciting.

Odin comes into the game this summer. In addition to the mythical boss character, the collaboration will give “PSO2” players a chance to use “Miqo'te” outfits in the game, among others.

Apparently, fans of both major online RPGs are happy at the news. Siliconera reports that during the event, some of the audience members were shouting out Yoshida's name as he appeared on the stage. In one of the comments found in the announcement video's Youtube page, a certain fan even hilariously called the collaboration “Final Phantasy.”

More details are expected to be released soon, so stay tuned for more updates on the “Final Fantasy XIV Heavensward” and “Phantasy Star Online 2” collaboration project. Meanwhile, new rumors regarding “Final Fantasy XV” have surfaced, saying that the names and voice actors of some new characters have been revealed.

According to the game's IMDB listing, Alexa Kahn will be playing a character named Crowe while D.C. Douglas will play a character named Weskham Armaugh, reports Attack of The Fanboy.

Douglas is best remembered for voicing Albert Wesker from the “Resident Evil” series, and Kahn is known for playing minor roles in various games including “Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.”
