'X-Men' Star Lucas Till Is The New MacGyver In CBS Reboot Series

CBS recently announced the actor who will play the titular role in the upcoming “MacGyver" reboot. Lucas Till, best known for his appearance in “X-Men,” was confirmed to play the lead character.

The “MacGyver” reboot show producers have been in search for a the MacGyver's role for a long time. According to sources, several names have been considered for the role in the “MacGyver” reboot on CBS, but Lucas Till ultimately got the part.

The original “MacGyver” aired on ABC from 1985 to 1992, created by Lee David Zlotoff, according to TV.com. Richard Dean Anderson played the central character for seven seasons and the show was a big hit at the time. The original story focused on MacGyver who had the talent to practically use his scientific knowledge and inventive skills, frequently availing of his trusty Swiss Army knife, to create smart solutions to unconventional problems. The same approach is expected in the “MacGyver” reboot on CBS.

Variety writes that the “MacGyver” reboot on CBS will be a reimagining of the original TV series. Till will play the main character, who is in his twenties, who gets recruited into a secret organization where he continues his expert problem-solving skills to stop disasters and save people.

Perez Hilton adds that Joshua Boone was also cast as a series regular on the “MacGyver” reboot, playing Gunner, MacGyver’s best friend from high school. George Eads will play Lincoln in the “MacGyver” reboot, who is described as a compassionate government employee and an eccentric conspiracy theorist.

The “MacGyver” reboot on CBS is being written by Paul Downs Colaizzo, who also serves as executive producer with Michael Clear, James Wan, Lee David Zlotof and original producer Henry Winkler. David Von Ancken will serve as director of the pilot, as well as executive producer. CBS Television Studios is producing the “MacGyver” reboot.

Lucas Till, 25, has appeared in numerous films, although he is best known for playing Alex Summers/Havok in “X-Men: First Class” in 2011, “X-Men: Days of Future Past” in 2014, and “Brave Town.” He will appear next in “X-Men: Apocalypse” in 2016 and “Monster Trucks” in 2017.
