Health-Conscious Gwyneth Paltrow Concedes To Treating Her Kids With Sugary Snacks

Gwyneth Paltrow's strict rules on dieting aren't always observed at home. The openly health-conscious actress has revealed that she occasionally treats her kids with sugary snacks.

In a recent interview with KIIS via Daily Mail, Paltrow admitted that her carb-free attitude has become more lenient over time. She is now okay with Apple, 11, and Moses, 9, enjoying a modest serving of Nutella.

"Luckily they serve lunch at school so that is one thing that is off my plate, thank God," said the 43-year-old health buff. "When they went on a field trip, when they were younger it was like 'Oh I'm going to make a little soba noodle salad and a little wrap' and now, literally, I'm like 'Here's a Nutella sandwich.'"

The Paltrow-Martin household may have a ban on carbohydrates, but the "Iron Man 3" actress reasoned that occasional cheats are also necessary. Paltrow stated on Goop that she initially conditioned her kids to exclusively eat healthy meals. However, there were just days when Apple and Moses preferred cookies and cotton candy over hummus and carrots.

"That's all part of childhood and I love Oreos too, so I completely understand. They love a brown rice stir-fry but they also love their 'Coke of the week,'" she wrote. "My daughter gravitates toward fresh fruit and raw nuts but will inhale a bag of hot Cheetos at the airport."

Paltrow explained that despite her family's health standards, they are also aware that perfection is unsustainable and at times, frustrating. She said treats such as pizza, a glass of red wine or even a cigarette at a party just makes a week more pleasurable.

In her second cookbook entitled "It's All Good," Paltrow reveals the healthy diet her family is on. She, her kids, and now estranged husband Chris Martin decided to give up gluten, soy, sugar and dairy products. Paltrow's book is a collection of recipes that features everything except the aforementioned ingredients.
