iPhone 7 Release Date, Specs, Price & Update: Lightning-Enabled Apple Earphones Leaked Photo Appears Online

According to rumors, Apple is planning to eliminate the headphone jack completely in order to take out 1mm from the iPhone 7 device's thickness. A new leaked image showing Apple's Lightning-enabled earphones appears online to sustain the speculations.

Without a headphone jack, consumers are left with two choices. They can either use wireless Bluetooth headphones or a pair of headphones that connects to the iPhone via the Lightning port. A report published in Mac Rumors even speculates about Apple introducing a slimmer Lightning port for the upcoming iPhone 7.

According to PC Mag, the issue with using Lightning-enabled earphones is that limits their use to the iPhone 7 only and that these are quite expensive. Even if Apple would include some kind of adaptor to allow users to use their standard headphones this will still come with a large price tag.

When the first iPhone 7 case photo leaked online on March 10, the image revealed that there is indeed no space for a 3.5mm headphone jack. The leak coming from @OnLeaks seems to prove the speculation that Apple iPhone 7 will feature the new Lightning-enabled port instead of the headphone jack of the past.

If iPhone 7 will come with Lightning EarPods, rumors are suggesting that they will be similar to the current EarPods, with the only difference that they will have a Lightning connector instead of the regular headphone 3.5mm jack.

Over the past few days a new image has been floating around the internet showcasing what is claimed to be a Lightning-enabled pair of Apple EarPods. In case that it is true, the shows a pair of fairly standard Apple EarPod earphones featuring at the bottom a lightning jack in place of the standard 3.5mm jack.

This comes again to seemingly confirm the speculation about Apple eliminating the headphones jack on the upcoming iPhone 7. Many publications reported the image as being genuine, however we do not have any official confirmation from Apple.
