According to The Hollywood Reporter, last Wednesday's episode was Moore's last. He already said his farewell to the veterans after Derek opted to concentrate on his family life.

Moore admitted that leaving "Criminal Minds" is weird because he spent the over a decade with his "Criminal Minds" co-stars.

"It's a weird experience," Moore said. "I just spent 11 years with a group of people, and it's a weird thing to walk away from - but I did it on my terms and in the right way."

His decision was inspired by George Clooney and Denzel Washington's who also left successful shows "ER" and "St. Elsewhere" to take risks on their careers.

"I'm not saying I'm the next George Clooney or Denzel Washington because I haven't earned that right, but without taking a leap, I'll never find out what I'm capable of," he said with a laugh.

To address Moore's exit in "Criminal Minds," the show's executive producer wrote a letter to fans. "All of us at Criminal Minds are sad to say 'see you later' to Agent Derek Morgan. Even sadder that our friend Shemar Moore isn't on set anymore," Erica Messer wrote per CBS. The team opted to respect Moore's decision to leap and try new things and stretch their love and support on his choice.
