'Avatar 2' Release Date, News & Update: Film Will Be More Family-Oriented?

"Avatar" is a huge hit and James Cameron is now gearing up for its sequel. After over six years, "Avatar 2" will soon hit the big screens to tell the next adventures and untold stories of the blue flute clan.

Here's the latest scoop we have about "Avatar 2."

The first "Avatar" film features the love story of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana). Initially, the pair has different motives and they belong on opposing sides, but the turn of events pushed them to reunite and work together against the human forces who aim to ruin Pandora.

The last part of "Avatar" featured Jake going through a ceremony to be a permanent Na'vi. So, what will happen in "Avatar 2" with Jake now belonging to the Omaticaya clan?

Parent Herald previously reported that Jake and Neytiri would be the next chieftain and priestess in "Avatar 2." However, aside from this, they will be having their own family. Per MovieNewsGuide, they will have children that are half-human and half- Na'vi. These new characters will debut in "Avatar 2."

With the addition of Jake and Neytiri's children in "Avatar 2," Yibada suggested that the sequel is more family-oriented. More likely it happened years after the first film because the first film ended with Jake's conversion to a permanent Na'vi but in "Avatar 2" they already have children.

Speaking of Jake turning to a permanent Na'vi. There are rumors that "Avatar 2" will also feature his struggles in his new self.

Meanwhile, on a separate note, "Avatar 2" has no release date yet. The film was initially set for a 2017 release date, but it was pushed back.

"Christmas of '17 is the target," Cameron told Montreal Gazette. "At least, that's what we've announced. But I don't consider that to be as important as the fact that when we get all three films done, we drop them a year apart. I call it a meta-narrative that runs across the three movies. Each film stands alone, but it also tells one much larger story."

With Cameron's admission that the release date is not as important as getting the sequels done, when do you think "Avatar 2" will be finished? Are you happy that "Avatar 2" is more family-oriented? Share your thoughts below.
