Celebrity Parents: Son Jack Quaid Opens Up About Dennis Quaid And Meg Ryan Divorce

The son of former Hollywood couple Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan has broken his silence on his parents divorce, which was 15 years ago. Though still a child, Jack Quaid admitted that he was greatly affected when his celebrity parents decided to split up.

In an interview on the podcast, "Allegedly with Theo Von & Matthew Cole Weiss," the 23-year-old actor said he was in a difficult stage when his mom and dad decided to call it quits. "You're old enough to know what's going on, but young enough to be kind of naïve about it. It's a whole deal," Jack Quaid explained.

Jack Quaid, who was 8 years old at the time, explained that the divorce being all over the news made things harder for him. Jack noted that he would hear about the issue almost anywhere, making it much harder for him to get over the divorce.

"It's hard to ignore when you're at a grocery store and you're checking out and you look at [magazines]," Quaid added. "And there's a photo of them with a little paper rip graphic between them. It's a hard deal."

According to US Weekly, Jack did not grow up in a normal environment. However, Quaid said that his parents have always been there for him. "Despite what my parents do, they're still a mom and a dad. They're not like characters at the dinner table," Jack Quaid noted. "My dad has never been Jerry Lee Lewis at my graduation, nothing has gone down like that."

Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan, as per US Weekly, were given joint custody of their only son after their divorce. The couple was married in 1991 and finalized their divorce a decade later.

The 54-year-old actress admitted that she had an affair with Russell Crowe while she was still married. Ryan, however, claimed that there was more to the story than her infidelity. As it turns out, the tryst was due to Dennis Quaid's own unfaithfulness, which Meg Ryan claims was painful.

However, Meg Ryan admitted that the information regarding Dennis Quaid's disloyalty surfaced even more so after their divorce. In spite of rumors suggesting that Russell Crowe was the reason for Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan's divorce, the "You've Got Mail" star defended Crowe, insisting that none of it was "his fault," although he was there for her by the end of it all.
