Samsung App Accidentally Leaks Details On The Galaxy S7 Active

A Samsung app inadvertently leaked that the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active is actually coming out in the near future. The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active was not confirmed by the company before, but the name was spotted on the Samsung Level app, particularly in a Google Play listing showing all supported devices.

Previously, there were rumors that the Samsung Galaxy S7 would have a rugged counterpart – the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active. The Active line of Samsung Galaxy smartphones initially surfaced in 2013, featuring a rugged waterproof device. The first model beefed up the Galaxy S4. Since then, every new version of the Samsung S line included an Active variant.

Sam Mobile writes that the Galaxy S7 is already dust and water-resistant, so the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active will have to put more emphasis on the tough casing or increase its IP for shock and water resistance. Most likely, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active may also feature increased battery life, similar to its predecessors.

The standard Galaxy S7 has a 3,000mAh battery while the Galaxy S7 Edge has a 3,700mAh battery. The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active is expected to have the same battery power as the S7 Edge or better. The rugged version will most likely be thicker and bulkier because of its hard shell and hardware buttons. Previous Active versions also had three hard buttons under the display, compared to the regular one hard and two capacitive buttons.

GalaxyS7Active.com also reveals that the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active will most likely feature a 4.2-inch display, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4, a non-removable 3,900 mAh battery, a Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core 3.3GHz processor, an expandable internal memory of 32 and 64GB, 4GB of RAM and 3G. It may cost around $900 during release. The phone may come in two colors: white and grey.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active was designed specifically for users with active lifestyles. It is made to be taken to outdoor environments, being able to withstand impact and other external factors that can easily damage standard devices. The current Galaxy S7 can be submerged in water for a few seconds. The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active may be submerged for minutes without any issue. The smartphone was built and intended to last and will suit individuals who live on the go.

Samsung has not yet commented on the recent leak of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active. An official announcement from the company is expected soon.
