‘James Bond’ News: Tom Hiddleston Talks About Auditioning For The Role; Hugh Laurie A Better Fit?

Tom Hiddleston stops at Good Day DC about his new project as Hank Williams in the biopic, "I Saw The Light." Tom Hiddleston talks about his interest and auditioning for the role of "James Bond," but some said, Hugh Laurie is a better fit.

According to Fox 5, when Tom Hiddleston was asked if he's really going to take the role of Daniel Craig, as rumors have it, the star veered from answering. Instead, he and Kevin McCarthy made fun of the question by adding that the latter would love to see Tom Hiddleston as the new "James Bond."

Tom Hiddleston admitted that he is thinking of auditioning for the "James Bond" role. However, Tom Hiddleston added that it is quite arrogant if he's going to say things now as he's is not yet invited for a try-out.

Moreover, some said Tom Hiddleston's portrayal as the British agent, Jonathan Pine, in BBC One's "The Night Manager" is enough to be his audition piece. However, Independent suggested that if Tom Hiddleston is going to play as "James Bond," viewers will once again see a same "blond-haired, twinkly-eyed" and mysterious actor play "James Bond."

Hence, Barbara Broccoli, "James Bond" series producer, should consider Hugh Laurie to be the next "James Bond." Some said that Hugh Laurie is a better fit as "James Bond" for he has the talent to make the viewers forget he's actually Hugh Laurie.

In a past interview, Hugh Laurie revealed that he imagined himself doing the role of Jonathan Pine from "The Night's Manager." When Hugh Laurie finished reading the novel of John le Carré, he saw himself as the antagonist and not the arms dealer, Richard Onslow Roper.

In another article of Independent, Daniel Craig teased that he's not going to reprise his role as "James Bond." He even mentioned that he "would rather slash his wrists" than to be "James Bond" again. In fact, director Sam Mendes implied that "Spectre" might be the last "James Bond" film of Daniel Craig.

"It did feel to me like Daniel was saying goodbye to Bond at the end," Mendes told Empire. However, he teased Daniel Craig can easily reprise his role as "James Bond" as his role is not yet dead and it's another call for him to come back.
