'Call of Duty: Black Ops 3' Eclipse DLC 2 Announced; Release Date, Gameplay, Multiplayer Maps & Livestream Details

The second expansion of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” has been revealed. Titled, “Eclipse,” the new version will officially launch in April 2016, promising several new features. On March 31, Activision and Treyarch announced the second expansion of “Call of Duty: Black Ops III.” There will be new zombies and multiplayer maps.

The four new “Call of Duty” maps are called Rift, Spire, Verge and Knockout, writes Game Spot. Spire is set in an advanced airport terminal in the sky. There are several levels and open areas to explore, and most combats will be done midrange. Players may fall from their lofty position if they are not careful. The second “Call of Duty” map, Rift, is set in a rough military complex over an active caldera. The environment is tight so players have to strategize well, especially when going through the suspended rail system.

Verge recreates Banzai, which is the classic “Call of Duty: World at War” map. The map features a post-apocalyptic setting, complete with fortresses, waterfalls, tunnel systems and a key bridge. Meanwhile, Knockout is set in a Shaolin temple, combining the elements of midrange combat and close-quarter action.

Activision states that there is a new zombies map called Zetsubou No Shima. The map picks up the story of the characters of “Black Ops Origins.” The setting is in a Division 9 laboratory on an island in the Pacific. Biological experiments have been done on plants, animals and humans, with unlikely results. The lab is filled with unknown and dangerous horrors. There will be new zombies, traps, side quests and modes of transport in the new map.

Overall, the five new multiplayer maps are expected to add more excitement and content for “Call of Duty” players. The Zombies map will particularly provide more insight on “Black Ops Origins” for those who follow the storyline.

According to PlayStation's blog, “Eclipse” will officially launch on April 19, 2016 for PlayStation 4. There is an exclusive deal between Sony and Activision, which means that the game will arrive on Xbox One and PC at a later date. Gamers can get the second expansion of “Call of Duty” alone for $15. Others can also avail of the new installment by getting the “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” DLC pass for $50.

The first installment of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” was released in February 2016. It also featured new Zombies and multiplayer maps. More updates and details on “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 – Eclipse” are expected soon.
