'Criminal Minds' Season 11 Spoilers, News & Update: Frances Fisher To Play A Crazy Unsub From Gideon's Past

Many fans are still not over Shemar Moore's exit in "Criminal Minds" Season 11. However, executive producer Erica Messer is determined to keep the show going. She is bringing a new character to keep "Criminal Minds" Season 11 as thrilling and exciting as before.

The "Resurrection" alum, Frances Fisher is set to appear on "Criminal Minds" Season 11. In the episode titled, "Devil's Backbone," Fisher will play the role of Antonia Slade.

Who is Antonia Slade? She is "a crazy UnSub who was put away by [Mandy Patinkin's] Jason Gideon 15 years ago," Erica Messer told TVLine. Antonia and her husband had set up a runaway hotline for teens, but only to punish those misbehaving severely.

Messer teased that the said "Criminal Minds" episode is very interesting, creepy and psychological. The BAU team will be gathered together in the prison by the illustrious inmate.

"She's amazing," Messer described the new guest star of "Criminal Minds" Season 11. "We've been wanting to work with Frances Fisher for years and it never worked out, and we're so glad it didn't, because she was made to be this UnSub for us."

On a separate note, Messer is obviously filling the void that Shemar Moore left in "Criminal Minds" because apart from Frances Fisher, an old BAU member will return. Parent Herald previously reported that Paget Brewster a.k.a Agent Emily Prentiss will appear in the next episodes of "Criminal Minds" Season 11.

"We really wanted to do something big after Shemar [Moore] left," Messer told TV Line. "and there's nothing greater than bringing back our sweet Emily Prentiss. Paget was adorable at first, like, 'Is there too much Prentiss in this story?' I was like, 'Nooo, there is no such thing!' So yeah, we were thrilled to have her back."

Will the new and returning character successfully fill the emptiness that Shemar Moore left in "Criminal Minds" Season 11? What do you think? Share your thoughts below.
