60-Year-Old Man Decides To Start Secondary Education; His Story Will Make You Cry

A 60-year-old man from Delta State is making a buzz online for attending school as a Junior Secondary student. Clearly, his age didn't hinder him from pursuing his dreams of finishing school.

This inspiring story is about a man named Adalabu Seribor from Bomadi-Overside in the state of Delta. Punchng.com shared that the 60-year-old Mr. Seribor makes a living by pushing wheelbarrows and doing other menial jobs in order to support his education.

The determination of this man to finish school at his age is astounding that he would even want to become a teacher someday. This man aims to inspire and teach young people to value education.

Seribor was one of those who didn't grow up in a privileged family. He was once given a chance to study when he was younger because one of his relatives happened to be a headmaster in a school. Unfortunately, he lost interest in pursuing his education that time because he was physically abused. Mr. Seribor was often beaten up before he even gets to study, so he eventually went back to stay with his father.

His mother died giving birth to one of his siblings when he was just a little boy. Mr. Seribor, who is also known as Oyibo in his town, grew up with his father who eventually remarried. Since then, he's been doing a lot of hard labor. But these days, he decided that it was time to go back to school.

NAIJ cited the 60-year-old student's interview with Southern City News saying, "I am sixty years now and I decided to go to school at this age because I perpetually feel the pain of being an illiterate in this modern world where everything has to do with English and education." Seribor's teacher, Mr. Edsemi Anesah, has witnessed the old man's perseverance in pursuing his education.
