'Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2' Director James Gunn Hints at 'Avengers' Crossover

Fans, as well as the media are scouring for anything that would leak details about a crossover between the "Guardians of The Galaxy" and the "Avengers." One media outlet says it has found a hint to that, if you may, dream come true event.

According to Metro, "Guardians of The Galaxy" director James Gunn himself gave a clue, albeit far, that points to a crossover between the two groups. The alleged clue comes by way of Gunn's reply to a fan's tweet in a Q&A.

A certain Mohammad Aldinnur (@MAldinnur) simply asked the director on Twitter as to why there is no "Guardian" in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" or in the upcoming "Captain America: Civil War." Gunn, in response, simply stated that the "Guardians" are "currently in a different galaxy."

Metro emphasized that because Gunn stated the term "currently," there is a possibility that someday, the earth-based heroes in "Avengers" will soon meet the Andromeda galaxy-based "Guardians of The Galaxy," in the third "Avengers" film titled "Avengers: Infinity War."

Cinema Blend reported last year that Gunn, in an interview with Screen Junkies, said that people should stop thinking about the "Guardians of The Galaxy" meeting up with the "Avengers" because each has its own agenda.

"We really are separate from the Avengers, and I don't think people should assume too many things about the Guardians play in all this, because we have our own galaxy to take care of. We have our own galaxy to save," Gunn said. "Earth is the Avengers' province. Thinking that everything is going to come together in a perfect way is not necessarily the way it's going to happen."

That last line, however, will make you think. After all, the infinity stones seem to be central to what's currently happening in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Thanos and The Collector showing up at some of the MCU films' post-credits.
