'Star Wars Episode 8' Cast, News & Update: John Boyega Reveals New Cast Will Take The Lead Role ; 'Bottom' Star Ade Edmondson Joins Cast

Last year, the galaxy far, far away has finally returned. Many fans waited for it for years, hence, it was not a surprise that "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was a huge hit. For those who love "Star Wars," another film is on the way. "Star Wars Episode 8" is set to arrive next year.

In "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" Rey (Daisy Ridley) took the spotlight. Ridley has successfully convinced viewers that she's good at her craft. Although her character is still filled with mystery, there are reports that she will no longer take the lead for "Star Wars Episode 8."

Per Digital Spy, JJ Abrams carefully selected unknown actors Daisy Ridley and John Boyega to lead "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and Rian Johnson, who is taking the directorial chair for "Star wars Episode 8" will follow the same trend.

Per the report, Kelly Marie Tran joined that cast in "Star Wars Episode 8" and per Boyega, the newbie will take the lead role in "Star Wars Episode 8."

Tran was previously seen on a comedy website, "CollegeHumor." She formally joined the cast of "Star Wars Episode 8" last January. However, at the time, no one knows the details of her role. The "Star Wars Episode 8" production makes sure that this detail will not slip into the public.

Aside from Tran, The Sun reported that Ade Edmondson also joined the cast of "Star Wars Episode 8." However, just like Tran's, the "Bottom" star's role is undisclosed.

The 59-year-old star is popular for his slapstick humor. Per the report, Edmond's casting in "Star Wars Episode 8" is among the most unlikely ones.

"Ade is one of the most-loved comedy stars in the UK but even he would admit Star Wars is a surprise move for him," one source told the publication. "Ade is starting to go back to his acting roots after doing a lot of reality TV recently and this is a huge deal for him. His character is top secret, like everything else to do with the film and its plot. But given his old comedy characters, it would make sense for them to give him an eccentric part."
