Manny Pacquiao V Timothy Bradley III: A Fight For Legacy Or An Unfair Political Campaign?

When the April 9 fight between Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley was first announced, many fans got upset because they felt that a third fight between the two boxers is completely unnecessary. However, Manny Pacquiao's political rivals in the Philippines have a different reason for getting upset with the boxing legend's third fight with the American contender Timothy Bradley.

"If he had a sense of sportsmanship he wouldn't be staging the fight just one month before the elections," Philippine senatorial candidate Walden Bello said via Gulf Times. Bello is talking about the unfair media coverage advantage that Manny Pacquiao has over the other senatorial candidates in the Philippines because of his third fight with Timothy Bradley.

"His only source of publicity is his fights, not his (political) platform. It is too much of an advantage," former Philippine Commission on Elections head Sixto Brillantes stated via Gulf Times. While the other senatorial candidates in the Philippines are paying lots of money to have media coverage, Pacquiao is about to get heavy media presence while getting paid millions of dollars in the process.

Although not nearly as big as his earnings for the Floyd Mayweather fight, Manny Pacquiao is still getting paid serious money for the fight, win or lose. Manny Pacquiao is guaranteed to take home approximately $20 million for his third fight with Timothy Bradley, according to Bad Left Hook.
