5 Things New Parents Swear They’ll Never Do But Ended Up Doing

Before having a kid, there are certain things that your young selves swear will never do to your kid once you become a parent. However, finally being a parent just makes it hard not to do those things.

When you were younger and child-free, you'd swear to follow a set of ideal principles in parenting. Take, for example, you swore that you'd never let your kid do tantrums in public, until your ideal self realizes that it can't be helped.

Browse through these familiar situations and have a good time at the silliness of it all. Collected from Parents.com , The Military Wife and Mom, and BuzzFeed, check out this list of hilarious things that parents ended up doing:

1. Post photos and show everyone pictures of our kid all the time.

You thought you won't become that over eager mom or dad with 500 photos of your baby on Facebook. It's okay, everyone will fall into that trap. Not only you posted pictures of your kid on all your social media accounts, you also showed them to anyone you've come across to. It's a natural thing to show off when you're feeling happy.

2. Pack lunch consists of not so healthy stuff

Becoming a parent can take a toll on you sometimes, making you opt to take the easy way. It's not that you're a bad mom or dad, but there are times that all you can do is pack lunch consist of a fruit cup, and mac and cheese for your kid.

3. Use a leash

You used to think that it looks cruel for parents to use a leash on their kids. But when you finally have a kid of your own, you realize how safe and easy it would be with a leash on.

4. Leave the house in sweatpants

You swore that you won't become the kind of parents who go out in their sweatpants. You promised to yourself you'd look good even doing mundane tasks. However, when your child came, this isn't just possible.

5. Never let your baby sleep with you on the bed

The American Academy of Pediatrics has advised against sharing a bed with the baby, saying it increases risks for sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and other sleep-related infant risks. As much as you want this to happen, babies are found not to be the most cooperative ones. Just make sure to follow guidelines on how to bed-share with your baby.

You may feel betrayed doing some of the things mentioned, but it can't always be helped and this is a reality. It also doesn't make you a bad mom or dad. Check out this hilarious video from Jimmy Kimmel about parenting:
