'Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice' Disappointment: Should Director Zack Snyder Be Replaced For 'Justice League'?

"Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice" -- starring Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne / Batman and Henry Cavill as Clark Kent / Superman -- has its share of fans, but generally received poor reviews and big drops at the box office. With the critical and commercial beating the movie has taken, should Warner Brothers consider replacing director Zack Snyder for "Justice League?"

"Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice" has a 29% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes and had a 69 percent drop in its second weekend at the domestic box office, Vox reports. Compared to Marvel Studios' "The Avengers," "Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice" seems to be doing poorly.

The Marvel Studios film has a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes. "The Avengers" grossed more than $1.5 billion at the box office and had a 50 percent drop only in its second weekend, according to Box Office Mojo.

"Warner Bros. needs Batman v Superman to take in more than $1 billion worldwide to recoup the money it spent on producing and marketing the film," Vox explains. "Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice" has made $720 million worldwide as of now, and many box office analysts predict that the movie will not be able to make $1 billion. This is not a good omen for "Justice League" next year.

Who should be blamed for the commercial and critical failure of "Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice"? Many disappointed fans are pointing their fingers on the movie's director Zack Snyder.

Most fans who hated "Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice" were disappointed with the movie's bleak, dark and heavy tone. This is a huge differential factor for Marvel films, who opt for more light-hearted and family friendly films, such as "The Avengers," "Thor," "Ant-Man" and "Guardians of the Galaxy."

The solution to this problem might not rely on replacing Zack Snyder as the director for "Justice League," but to have someone like Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige who can supervise the director effectively. DC and Warner Brothers might need someone like Kevin Feige who knows how to deliver superhero movies that please die-hard fans, casual viewers and the critics as well.

Kevin Feige's Marvel movies also seem to have a better balance of action, comedy, romance and drama. If Zack Snyder had someone like Kevin Feige who can rein him in, "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" might have fared much better with the critics and at the box office.
