'X-Men: Apocalypse' Release Date, News & Update: Director Bryan Singer Will Bring Back Jean And Cyclops' Romance

For a long time, Jean Grey and Scott Summers' romance was left in the backseat. The two mutants were so into each other, but this story arc was missed in "X-Men: the Last Stand." However, director Bryan Singer teases that fans will see Jean and Scott's blossoming relationship in "X-Men: Apocalypse."

"X-Men: Apocalypse" To Feature Budding Romance Between Jean and Cyclops

According to ScreenCrush, due to the timeline reset in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," Singer found an opportunity to feature the mutant couple in "X-Men: Apocalypse." For "X-Men" fans who are wondering what to expect in the younger Jean (Sophie Turner) and Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), you will witness how the pair struggle to adjust with their mutant power and how their romance started in "X-Men: Apocalypse".

"In the beginning, she's the last thing he's interested in," Singer told Entertainment Weekly. Cyclops was blind so he didn't see Jean until he acquired some glasses and when he saw her it was like, "Oh! That's Jean Grey."

According to the "X-Men: Apocalypse"director, the two characters are misfits. While other mutants are getting comfortable with their superpowers, it was all new to Scott. He doesn't like it and hate schools. Meanwhile, Jean Grey has her telekinesis and telepathy powers and she is aware that something more powerful and darker is taking over her. Fans will see the young Jean and Cyclops struggle and learn about their abilities in "X-Men: Apocalypse."

Singer Will Explore the "Dark Phoenix" Along with Cyclops and Jean's Romance

According to MoviePilot, Singer had originally planned to explore the "Dark Phoenix" saga, but due to some issues with Fox, he was not able to pursue it. "X-Men The Last Stand" directed by Brett Ratner killed Patrick Stewart's Professor Xavier and Cyclops in the first act, leaving the "Dark Phoenix" saga on its own direction but this will be changed in "X-Men: Apocalypse"

So for those who argue with Cyclops' death in "Dark Phoenix" saga, you will get to witness Cyclops and Jean together in this story arc in "X-Men: Apocalypse." Per the report, Singer will explore the "Dark Phoenix" and Jean and Cyclops' budding romance in "X-Men: Apocalypse."

"X-Men: Apocalypse" will hit the big screens on May 27, 2016.
