IPhone SE vs iPhone 6S: Which Apple Smartphone Is A Better Purchase?

Apple has recently released its 4-inch wonder, the iPhone SE. As expected, people can't help but compare the device to its older sibling, the iPhone 6S, unveiled last year.

The two smartphones boast of impressive specs, and it can be hard for interested buyers to choose which device they should purchase. We compared the specs and features of the iPhone SE and iPhone 6S below to help you decide.

Design & Display

Measuring at 113g, the iPhone SE is smaller and lighter than the iPhone 6S, which weighs 143g. For the iPhone SE, Apple used the same display panel as the iPhone 5S -- LED-backlit IPS LCD and 640 x 1136 pixels (326 ppi pixel density).

The iPhone SE's angled edges that border it are now matte instead of shiny. The smartphone comes in gold, silver, gray, and rose gold variants. The Apple logo on the SE's back is stainless steel, with the "SE" printed at the bottom part, Apple's official website wrote.

The iPhone SE's fits easily into small pockets, which is an advantage for people working in dangerous environments. Its small size makes it easily navigable with just one thumb.

The iPhone 6S, in contrast, sports a 4.7-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD and 1334 x 750 pixels (326 ppi), Apple's website indicated. Like the iPhone SE, it comes in silver, gold, space gray, and rose gold color variants. The main difference between the two handsets' displays is the iPhone 6S possession of 3D Touch technology, a feature not included in the iPhone SE.

Performance

The iPhone SE and iPhone 6S are both equipped with the same A9 chip and M9 motion processor, as well as 2GB of RAM. Forbes wrote that the iPhone SE's performance is actually slightly faster than the iPhone 6S because "it needs to drive less pixels on a smaller screen."

Other Features

Other specs included in the iPhone SE are: a 12-megapixel iSight camera, 1.2-megapixel front-facing shooter, 4K video recording, an NFC chip, first generation Touch ID, Siri, Apple Pay and iOS 9, Apple's official website listed.

The iPhone 6S also has a 12MP rear camera, but its front camera is superior than the iPhone SE at 5MP. Both smartphones' cameras are equipped with dual-LED flash. As for the battery, the iPhone SE has a 1642 mAh one, while the iPhone 6S boasts of a 1715 mAh battery.
