'Transformers 5' Release Date, News & Update: Production Hires 'John Wick's' Jonathan Sela For A Better Cinematography

"Transformers" remain to be one of the most successful franchises that make it into the big screens. Now, fans are waiting for "Transformers 5" and based on new reports, one talent has just joined the crew to make the film even better.

"John Wick" Cinematographer to Join "Transformers 5"

According to Variety, "Transformer 5" is planning to hire the "John Wick" cinematographer, Jonathan Sela, to shoot Michael Bay's upcoming blockbuster sequel. Per ScreenCrush, Sela has worked as DP on films like "Max Payne" and "A Good Day to Die Hard." The latter is close to Bay's "Transformers" franchise.

Aside from this, Sela is also behind the filming of Miley Cyru's hit song "Wrecking Ball." Thus, he has a diverse resume. However, his works in "John Wick" is his best.

"Transformers 5" Update

At the time, only limited information is available about "Transformers 5." However, it is already confirmed that Mark Wahlberg will return to reprise his role. Also, there are rumors that following "Transformers 5," a Bumblebee spinoff and an animated origin story film will be developed.

Parent Herald has previously reported that "Transformers 5" will also be Michael Bay's last directorial work in the franchise. Aside from this, there are rumors that "Transformers 5" will feature two major plots.

One story line will feature Optimus Prime as he left off during the "Age of Extinction." The autobot leader is heading to space for a face-to-face battle with the Quintesson leader. The other story line of "Transformers 5" involves Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) and Ultra Magnus, the duo is tasked to manage the events on the Earth during Optimus Prime's absence.

"Transformers 5" To Film in Michigan

Meanwhile, "Transformers 5" is set to film in Michigan in May. In a separate report from Parent Herald, "Transformers 5" receives $21 million incentive to shoot in Detroit. There are reports claiming that Viacom's Comedy Central will film "Detroit" series in Detroit this summer and "Transformers 5" will shoot a month after.

"Transformers 5" is slated for release in 2017.
