‘Captain America: Civil War” Star Scarlett Johansson Reveals Reason Why Marriage With Ex-Husband Ryan Reynolds Failed

Did you know why Scarlett Johansson and ex-husband Ryan Reynolds' relationship failed? In the May issue of Cosmopolitan magazine, the 31-year-old "Captain America: Civil War" actress hinted the reason why her first marriage was ill-fated.

Prior to their divorce in 2011, Scarlet Johansson and Ryan Reynolds were a picture-perfect couple who were so in love. Unfortunately, their three-year marital bliss was not destined to last forever and Johansson revealed being too competitive with each other was a factor, E! News notes.

"The logistics of being with another actor are challenging," Johansson told the magazine. "There has to be a real understanding of how you share your time, especially when two people's careers are going at the same rate. Or even if one person is more successful than the other, that also proves challenging. There may be a competitive thing."

Luckily, Johansson has able to find love again with 34-year-old contemporary art dealer Romain Duriac. The couple, who are both competitive, got married in October 2014 and are proud parents to their 20-month-old daughter, Rose.

While Johansson is a proud New Yorker, the "Lucy" star admitted that moving to the city of lights, Paris, was the best decision she ever made. However, Johansson also stressed that she and her art dealer hubby are both dividing their time to spend in their native cities.

Reynolds, on the other hand, also has a happy marital life with wife Blake Lively. According to Entertainment Tonight, Johansson's ex-hubby remarried in 2012 and has his own daughter named James.

Aside from shedding some light on her failed marriage, Scarlett Johansson also candidly shared an advice on how to overcome damaging and unhealthy relationships. "The Avengers" actress admitted that once in her life she also hit "rock bottom," The Independent reveals.

"[Hitting rock bottom] is the moment you've gotta cut it off," Johansson said. "Otherwise, it will keep coming back, suck your blood."

In addition, Johansson also spoke about the gender pay-gap. Daily Mail adds that the mom-of-one also shared her thoughts on cutting the budget for Planned Parenthood.

Do you think Johansson and Reynolds' competitiveness was the reason for their failed marriage?
