Starbucks New Rewards Program Kicks Off And It Is Frustrating A Lot Of Their Customers

Starbucks has launched their new rewards program on April 12 and so many people were frustrated with the changes. The company has changed its rewards system that customers now get points based on the amount of money they spend on their favorite drinks. It used to be on how frequently they make a purchase.

The coffee giant has made a lot of their loyal customers excited for the changes ever since this new rewards program was reported on February of this year. But the hype slowed down after Starbucks finally released it on Tuesday, as Time Magazine said it disappointed a lot of people.

Loyal customers were not happy about the glitch in the system that made them lose their previous points for redemption. The new My Starbucks Rewards Program involves updating a Starbucks app. This is an important part of the rewards program that customers can't skip. While they're at it, some customers were surprised to find out that their points from before were no longer counted.

Starbucks already made a statement about this glitch explaining what is going on. "Because of the phased approach, these changes have created slower app functionality, and as a result, some customers are seeing a delay in the technology where their account information and Stars are not populating within the mobile app," Starbucks' spokesperson said. "We expect this will be resolved soon and we're keeping track of everything."

Business Insider also explained how customers could avail this new rewards program. As soon as a customer buys anything with their Starbucks card or app from April 12 to May 2, they are automatically upgraded to Gold rewards status. For customers who are already under Gold before this new program was released, another year would be added to their status.
