'Doctor Strange' Release Date and Trailer: Watch the New Trailer for Marvel's New Superhero Movie [Watch]

A new trailer for Marvel's upcoming mystical superhero "Doctor Strange" has surfaced, giving away some background information as to how the hero got his early beginnings. Watching the trailer will make one realize that apparently, a lot of heroes do have it bad in the beginning.

The trailer is able to show a lot of Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) without revealing much about the movie's plot, reports io9. It merely shows what happened to the titular hero, giving focus to how a car accident changed his life in an instant. Watch the trailer here:

Doctor Who?

For those that don't know, Strange is a real physician who happens to own "Strange" as his last name, and not just as an alias, reports The Verge. He was created in 1963 by the legendary Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, but most would give more credit to Ditko as he was the one who introduced the weird and mystical to Marvel's universe.

Strange is considered to be one of Marvel's most powerful characters, and belongs in what fans call "Cosmic Marvel," the same universe where the "Guardians of The Galaxy" are currently included. It is expected that he'll be one of those greatly involved in the build-up towards "Avengers: Infinity War" and will be in it as well, as he is someone who will not allow Thanos to destroy all life in the universe.

Strange Changes

Those who've been reading, or at least following, the "Doctor Strange" comics will probably rant about Tilda Swinton being cast as the Ancient One in the MCU adaptation of the comics. Some netizens have pointed out, among others, that the Ancient One is a male Tibetan, and by casting Swinton, Marvel is doing some "whitewashing." Marvel President Kevin Feige, however, has an explanation.

"As we were developing this film we looked at The Ancient One as a mantle more than a specific person," Feige told io9. "The sorcerers have been around for millennia, protecting us from things we didn't know about until this story. There have been multiple [Ancient Ones], even if this one has been around for five hundred years, there were others. This is a mantle, and therefore felt we had leeway to cast in interesting ways."

"Doctor Strange" is currently filming. What do you think of the trailer? Share your opinion in the comments section below.
