Cafe Offers Moms Free Tea And A Place To Breastfeed

A cafe in Sydney, Australia, has given a safe and comfortable place for moms to breastfeed and enjoy a free cup of tea. With a lot of people not accepting breastfeeding in public, Willows Cafe hopes to take a different stand.

According to Stuff, the Australian coffee shop encourages breastfeeding moms to enter the business establishment where they can feed their babies with no one telling them to stop or cover themselves with napkins. "Breastfeeding mums, pop in, have a free cup of tea if you need a pitt stop (sic)... No need to eat, no need to ask - please relax : ) Willows," read a text on the window of the restaurant.

Since the photo of the window text became popular on social media, many netizens have provided positive comments on the cafe's initiative. One mother, as per Metro, even related her negative experience when she breastfed in public.

This mom said someone yelled at her 28 years ago when she was feeding her daughter inside a local shopping center. "Back then the parents room were just not available, so to breastfeed you had to sit on the toilet. You have an amazing heart," the commenter added.

Bustle said there are really a lot of moms who are shamed for breastfeeding in front of a lot of people and they will really embarrassed for feeding their kids. It noted that since mothers have a hard time breastfeeding and even a harder time dealing with their hungry children when they are outside of their homes.

"Finding a clean, comfortable place to breastfeed is a challenge in itself, and women who breastfeed in public often face stares and whispers from others, if not outright rudeness," says Bustle. It was also highlighted that this new idea provides a "refreshing" hope to all mothers who now have a cozy and safe place to breastfeed infants.
