'The Trump Effect' Triggers Anxiety And Bullying In Schools

There is no doubt that Donald Trump is one of the strongest candidates in the White House race. However, not all are happy with his progress, some are anxious about their future if Trump wins the presidential bid.

Donald Trump vs. Mexicans and Illegal Immigrants

The Republican frontrunner has been open about his stand against illegal immigrants. Also, Donald Trump has been attacking Mexico for sending rapists and drug runners in the United States, Newsweek reported.

While some appreciate and support Donald Trump's strident comments the Democrats and other Republicans have condemned it. Trump should be mindful of his words because according to new reports it brought fears and anxiety to illegal immigrants and children of color.

"The Trump Effect" Triggers The Rise of Bullying

According to Huffington Post, there is a rise in fear and bullying among schools and this is associated to "The Trump Effect." In a recent report from Southern Poverty Law Center titled, "The Trump Effect: The Impact of the Presidential Campaign on our Nation's Schools" fears and racial tensions are brewing in the school.

One teacher said that her students are afraid that Donald Trump will win because they think that all black will be sent back to Africa. "There is a boy from Mexico, who is a citizen, who is terrified that the country will deport him if Trump wins," another teacher wrote. "He is also scared that kids and grown-ups can and will hurt him."

"So many of my students have begun to show hatred towards refugees, low-income and poverty citizens, and there has been an increase in religious bias," another teacher wrote.

The survey initiated by SPLC involved over 2,000 educators. More than two-thirds of the teachers who took the survey have students that are mainly Muslims, immigrants and children of immigrants, who were all anxious about their fate after the election. Forty percent of the teachers are hesitant to discuss the election among students.

Per the report, the survey did not mention specific candidates, but teachers named Donald Trump, in more than 1,000 comments, which is five times more often that they mentioned the other candidates.
