Young Han Solo Already Found?

With the death of Harrison Ford's Han Solo in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" comes the plan to make a spinoff movie that will feature a younger version of the iconic smuggler. However, the challenge right now is just like what the whole universe went through in looking for the great Luke Skywalker in "The Force Awakens:" nobody knows where he is.

Chewbacca's New Friend?

Now, there's news regarding the possibility of who will play the role of the iconic rebel. According to Deadline, after narrowing down the applicants (rumored to have numbered about 2,500, reports Collider) to a select few, three names have emerged, with actor Alden Ehrenreich considered to be the "frontrunner." Alongside him comes Taron Egerton from "Kingsman" and Jack Reynor from "Transformers: Age of Extinction."

The casting for the role has been shrouded in much secrecy, with the plan even called "project Red Cup." As such, rumors and guesses about who will be the next (or technically, the earliest) Han Solo might very well be far-off. However, should the rumor prove true, some will be happy and some will not.

Ehrenreich was considered the breakout star in the Coen Brothers' "Hail Caesar!" movie. He is also set to star in an upcoming Warren Beatty endeavor, a yet-to-be titled Howard Hughes project. Given that he has these credentials among others, Ehrenreich is one of the rising in-demand actors of today, and could possibly nail the role.

Mumbo-Jumbo

On the other side, some fans have been raving about another person they think qualified (or even better) to take on the role of Han before his rebellion days with Luke and Leia. Reading through the comments section on the Deadline article, you'll find fans pushing for an actor named Anthony Ingruber, a Harrison Ford impersonator who "had the facial expressions and the mannerisms ... perfectly." Others point out some reasons why he shouldn't play the role, though.

Still, Disney hasn't released a word regarding the matter, so for now, let the rumors stay a matter from "a galaxy far, far away." Stay tuned and check back for more updates as they come.

The Han Solo film is slated for release May 25, 2018.
