'Penny Dreadful' Season 3 Premiere Date, News: Ethan Chandler Had To Leave Vanessa Ives, Josh Hartnett Explains Why

"James Bond" actress Eva Green, who plays Vanessa Ives, described "Penny Dreadful" season 3 as the most emotionally raw season of the hit Showtime series. Ethan Chandler broke Vanessa Ives', and a few millions of fans', hearts when he said goodbye to her in the "Penny Dreadful" season 2 finale and, now, Josh Hartnett explains why.

Collider reported that that while viewers thought they were saying goodbye to Ethan Chandler at the end of Season 2, "Penny Dreadful Season 3" will actually show much more of Josh Hartnett. Not only will Ethan Chandler reunite with Vanessa Ives, but "Penny Dreadful" season 3 will also find the revelations that viewers have been waiting to see about the series' werewolf story.

According to Josh Hartnett, Ethan Chandler said goodbye to Vanessa Ives out of love. In "Penny Dreadful" season 3, Ethan Chandler will be called to pay for his crimes, and he does not to put Vanessa Ives through that agony.

"Penny Dreadful" season 3 will also follow the stories of Sir Malcom Murray, played by "License To Kill" actor Timothy Dalton, Dorian Gary, Victory Frankenstein and, of course, Vanessa Ives. The buzz mill indicates that Lily/Bride Of Frankenstein (played by Billie Piper) and Dorian Gray (played by Reeve Carney), may steal the show in "Penny Dreadful" season 3. True or not, character development is strong in the series and "Penny Dreadful Season 3" is not about to change that trend.

In a "Penny Dreadful" season 3 Q&A, Eva Green packed that promise into a very apt summary. "But this is not the end," Eva Green said. "There's always more to come."

Den of Geek reported that Showtime will premiere "Penny Dreadful" season 3 on May 1, 2016 in the U.S. The show will run on May 3 via Sky Atlantic in the U.K.
