For the series finale of "The Good Wife," there are speculations that Will Gardner may come back from the grave. The possibility of Josh Charles' character returning for the series finale is something the executive producers are strongly considering.

As "The Good Wife" comes to an end, there are speculations of a dead making a comeback and a possible spin-off, E! News reports. There are rumors that Josh Charles will reprise his role as Will Gardner in the finale series of "The Good Wife," appearing in a possible flashback sequence, US Weekly added.

"We don't want to squash those rumors, because why would we?" Robert King said to Variety during the Tribeca Film Festival in NYC on Sunday, April 17. "But there are a lot of possibilities for the last episodes."

Fans may remember Charles' character, Will Gardner, was killed off in episode 15 of season 5 in 2014. The showrunners initially planned to terminate Gardner in season 4 but to properly give the character a worthy ending, Charles stayed on until season 5. E! News added that Charles returned later on to direct and his voice was heard in an episode of season 6.

When Charles bid farewell to his character, fans of the CBS drama were just as devastated. But the series promised to give the audience a powerful series finale. "I read it once, and I couldn't talk to anyone about it, because I was emotionally confused, because I was having so many emotions knowing I was wrapping this character up," Julian Margulies, the protagonist, said at the festival on Sunday.

The filming for the last episode was already done last week. Co-creator Michelle King said that it was very emotional for all the cast and crew last week. In fact, the crew stayed up until 6 a.m. the next day drinking with Margulies and Christine Baranski, savouring the last moments.

Addressing rumors of a spinoff, King said that there's a chance. "CBS seems to be very motivated-they like these characters, but they also like the world and all these subsidiary characters, so there may be a chance," he said.

"The Good Wife" airs Sundays, 9 p.m. on CBS. The series finale will be on May 8. Check out this teaser episode of the drama series:
