Katie Holmes And Tom Cruise Parenting: Daughter Suri Turns 10

The daughter of former celebrity couple Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise is now 10 years old. Suri Cruise enjoyed a simple celebration with her mother in New York City.

People said the mom and daughter tandem spent a pre-birthday bonding on Sunday with selected family members and friends. "Suri enjoyed a low-key pre-birthday lunch Sunday with Katie, her maternal grandparents and two young girlfriends at Tavern on the Green," an eyewitness mentioned in the People report.

The onlooker said Suri and her companions ordered hamburgers. Holmes, on the other hand, was seen finishing a plate of hamburger, much to the surprise of the people around them.

The family then went to Central Park to buy baked items for their dessert. "Rather than cake and a rousing rendition of 'Happy Birthday,' Suri and her pals quietly opted for freshly-baked cookies from Tavern on the Go before heading off into sunny Central Park," the observer told People.

In a post on her Instagram account, Holmes greeted her little girl with a sweet birthday message. "So grateful for my favorite day of the year!!!!!! Happy Birthday to my sweet angel Suri," she said in the caption.

According to Entertainment Tonight, it has been a decade since Suri was seen held by Cruise inside his coat in the 2006 cover of Vanity Fair. The celebrity father said Suri had the lips and the eyes of her mom.

"She has Kate's lips and eyes," the "Mission Impossible" actor said. "I think she looks like Kate." Holmes did not agree at that time saying that Suri got most of her features from her father.

E! noted that the lovely little girl's name means "the sun" in Sanskrit and "rose" in Persian. It said that though Cruise and Holmes were one of the most talked about couples during her birth year, she was not seen by the public until she appeared in the Vanity Page cover. The media that time focused their efforts in covering other celebrities making the headlines like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton.
