'Wolverine 3' Release Date, News & Update: Wolverine To Be Replaced By A Girl? New Character In The Sequel Rumored To Be His Successor

It has been known Hugh Jackman latest movie, "Wolverine 3," is his last appearance as the clawed mutant in the "X-Men" film series. But, this will won't be Logan's last motion picture franchise as the new character included in the third installment could be his successor.

Rumors Of X-23's Appearance

According to The Independent, there are emerging reports the comic-book character X-23 will be included in "Wolverine 3." X-23 is the female version of Wolverine with the same regenerative healing factor, exceptional strength, power and adamantium-coated claws on hands and feet.

It has been said after Wolverine dies, X-23 will be his successor taking his name and attire. However, it is not yet revealed how X-23 will be seen in "Wolverine 3" or what role she will take on in the film's plot.

A Few Rumors About X-23

Fans are also thinking how will she take Hugh Jackman's character as Wolverine as she is believed to be a woman. But, the publication assumed X-23 will be played by a male actor.

Slash Film reported X-23 will be grouped along with Wolverine and Professor X (Patrick Stewart) in "Wolverine 3." X-23's alter ego is Laura Kinnery and was first introduced in "X-Men: Evolution" before she entered the comics series.

X-23 was the result of the Weapon X experiment to create a genetic copy of Wolverine that made her have the same ability like his. X-23 was also imprisoned to be a killer machine and later retrieve her own life and free herself from Weapon X.

X-23 became united with X-Force and X-Men and now had her own comic book title, "All-New Wolverine." News about X-23 came from Super Hero Hype, via Slash Film, the latter confirmed that Super Hero Hype is a reliable source for information but, the confirmation from "Wolverine 3" makers is still anticipated.

"Wolverine 3" is set to be released on March 3, 2017. But, the third sequel remains to be untitled, as per IMDb.
