The popular English comedian, singer, songwriter and actress Victoria Wood has died after her brave battle with cancer. The "Housewife, 49" actress was only 62.

Victoria Wood's publicist told BBC that she "died peacefully at her north London home with family" on Wednesday. Her family and friends grieve for their loss. Her long-time comedy partner Julie Walter was speechless over her death."Too heart sore to comment. The loss of her is incalculable," Walters said per ITV.

Walters and Wood work together in the British sitcom "Dinnerladies" which ran from 1998 to 2000. The duo also works together throughout the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. So Walter's relationship with Wood has been developed for years due to their shared projects.

Victoria Hides Cancer For Six Months

Victoria Wood wants everyone happy, it was her nature to bring joy to everyone around her, perhaps, that's why she kept her cancer a secret to most of the people around her. Duncan Preston told Daily Mail that he was not aware of her condition until he received a call from her family informing him that she had died.

"I don't think many people did know. She'd had cancer for about six months," he said. He was shocked by Victoria Wood's death and has nothing but great words for the versatile star who just passed away. "All I know is it's a great loss to comedy in this country. She was a very special writer and the world has lost a great, great comedienne."

Victoria Wood Will Be Remembered For Her Talent In Comedy

There is no doubt that Victoria Wood is an important figure in comedy and everyone recognizes that. Duncan Preston is not the only one who felt that Wood's death is a loss in comedy.

Per BBC, Sheridan Smith is a huge fan of Victoria Woods. "I grew up watching all her stuff and she was someone I really looked up to," the 34-year-old artist said. "She was ridiculously talented so it's a massive loss."
