‘Mirror’s Edge Catalyst’ Release Date, New & Updates: Why EA’s DICE Studio Postpones ‘Mirror’s Edge’ Release Date Until June

Eight years after the launch of "Mirror's Edge" in 2008, Electronic Arts' (EA) Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment (DICE) Studio has finally developed a follow-up to its action-adventure video game titled, "Mirror's Edge Catalyst." Unfortunately, DICE once again postponed its release date from May 24 to June 7 in North America and June 9 in Europe.

Why "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" Is Postponed

Many "Mirror's Edge" fans were recently disappointed because "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" has been delayed once again. However, EA's DICE Studio stressed the postponement will give them more time to polish the game's social features and address player feedback from the closed beta, which is scheduled for release this month, PC Magazine notes.

"We're confident that these extra two weeks will make sure the game is as amazing as possible for you the players," "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" design director Erik Odeldahl explained on the game's website. "Thank you all for your continued support and excitement for 'Mirror's Edge Catalyst.' The return of Faith is imminent."

"Mirror's Edge Catalyst" Closed Beta

The "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" closed beta and the full game includes social play features, which will give players the ability to climb leaderboards, to connect with their Runner friends and more. Since DICE is using a "brand new online technology," to support these "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" features, the release date delay will allow the team to ensure that the game will flawlessly work upon its release, as per Venture Beat.

The "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" closed beta kicked off Friday, Apr. 22 and will run until Apr. 26, Engadget reveals. Players will be able to try out the game's main missions, side missions, optional content and the Social Play features.

"Mirror's Edge Catalyst" Plot And Pre-Order

"Mirror's Edge Catalyst" will depict the rise of "Mirror's Edge" protagonist Faith from being a "careless young woman to a heroine." Faith will fight against the tyranny of the ruling elite.

In "Mirror's Edge Catalyst," players will also explore the vast city of Glass, from its skyscrapers to its "mysterious" underground tunnels. Meanwhile, "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" is currently available for pre-order at $60 game.

"Mirror's Edge Catalyst" Changes

There will be some changes in "Mirror's Edge Catalyst." According to GameSpot, certain abilities were locked to start the game. But DICE explained this will help players learn her moveset and another change from the first game was the removal of guns.

Meanwhile, "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" is a big game for EA this 2016. Thus, the game publisher is giving it the best possible launch to help it get the biggest return on investment in the $99.6 billion gaming industry.
