'Game of Thrones' Season 6 Episode 1 'The Red Woman' Recap: Melisandre Revealed Her Deepest Darkest Secret

The world premiere of "Game of Thrones" season 6 episode 1, "The Red Woman," finally debuted on HBO and has been much-awaited to see the fate of Jon Snow (Kit Harington). Not only that, everyone also waited to see the Red Woman herself, Melisandre (Carice van Houten) and her role in the death of the Lord Commander.

The Wall

The surfacing leaks of "Game of Thrones" season 6 episode 1 from Parent Herald appeared to be true as the first chapter started with a dire wolf's howl, who was obviously Ghost, after discovering the of his human, Jon Snow. "Game of Thrones" opened with a scene of Jon Snow's body still lying in the snow and swimming in his own blood.

Ser Davos (Liam Cunningham) found Jon Snow's body as the rest of his allies from the Night's Watch came forward and were brought up to speed with his death "He's gone," Ser Davos told Melisandre when she told him he saw Jon Snow in the flames fighting for Winterfell.

Alliser Thorne (Owen Teale) justified what he did to Jon Snow by explaining to the brotherhood that the bastard committed treason by letting the Wildlings enter past the wall, into Castle Black. "Who did it?" a man asked, "I killed him," Alliser Thorne boasted.

Later, Alliser Thorne along with some of his group knocked at the room where Ser Davos is guarding Jon Snow's body asking them to surrender by nightfall, TV Line reported. The Onion Knight told the Master-at-Arms that they have no cause to fight and they'll think of his demands.

Brienne Of Tarth, Sansa And Theon Greyjoy (Reek)

Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) tried to mislead the hellhounds to find Sansa (Sophie Turner), but their dogs smelled the wife of Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon). Fortunately, Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) along with Podrick Payne (Daniel Portman) came to their rescue and killed Ramsay Bolton's crew.

Brienne of Tarth fulfilled her promised to Lady Catelyn to find and protect her daughter. Sansa Stark accepted Brienne of Tarth's vow and accepted her oath of protection.

Princess Myrcella And Trystane Martell

Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) believed that the prophecy she saw when she was just a child is coming true. This comes as Cersei learns about the death of her daughter, Myrcella (Nell Tiger Free). However, Jamie Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) promised to take everything that belonged to them and cursed everyone who isn't them.

Ellaria Sand (Indira Varma) killed Prince Doran (Alexander Siddig) with a knife when he found out that Princess Myrcella died. Ellaria explained as she stabbed Doran that the Prince of Dorne started failing his people when he did not do anything after the death of Oberyn Martell (Pedro Pascal).

It seems as though Ellaria Sand will soon be ruling Dorne, as she proclaimed to Doran that the region will no longer be ruled by a man. Of course, Prince Doran argued that his son, Trystane Martell (Toby Sebastian) would be next in line.

Two of the Sand Snakes -- unsurprisingly -- pay a visit to see Trystane in his room. Assuming that a valid agreement came into place, Trystane was getting ready to fight with Nymeria (Jessica Henwick). But things take a turn and well, let's just say, he met an untimely death by the hands of Obara (Keisha Castle-Hughes).

The Missing Khaleesi

Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) and Lord Varys (Conleth Hill) were trying to solve the mystery of Daenerys Targaryen (Emila Clarke), as the Mother of Dragons remains unfound. Upon discussion of how the Khaleesi will actually make it back to Meereen, Tyrion and Lord Varys ended up finding the dock -- including all the ships -- covered in flames.

Jorah (Iain Glen) and Daario Naharis (Michiel Huisman) joined forces to look for Khaleesi and found her ring -- the one she dropped just before the "Game of Thrones" season 5 finale cut to the credits -- lingering on the grass. "They have her," Jorah told Daario, pertaining to the Dothrakis.

Daenerys, on the other hand, has been captured by Khal Moro. The Dothraki tried to abuse her but after revealing that she was the widow of Khal Drogo, Khaleesi found herself in yet another problem, which makes her unable to return to her people in Meereen.

Arya Stark

Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) went totally blind and has been living in the streets of Braavos to beg for money. In the episode, as she sat at the bottom of a staircase, The Waif showed up and brought her a stick to start a fight.

"I can't see," Arya told the Waif. "That's your problem," the Waif responded. When the battled ended, the Waif told Arya, "See you tomorrow." The scene ended with a look of fear in Arya's eyes.

'The Red Woman'

"Game of Thrones" season 6 episode 1 was titled with the name, synonymous to Melisandre -- and with good, shocking reason. The first chapter revealed the Red Woman's real identity and her deepest, darkest secret.

When Melisandre took off her black choker, it unveiled an old woman's body and what she can does with her sorcery. According to Vox, it's long been revealed that Melisandre is over centuries old, but no one probably expected it would be more than 400 years -- as evidenced by her real physical physique.

Don't forget that Ser Davos and the Night's Watch (at least those of Jon Snow's allies) considered to ask Melisandre for help. Thinking that the Red Woman's black arts can do something about their situation, Ser Davos is considering the possibility of resurrecting Jon Snow.
