Aside from the "X-Men: Apocalypse," fans have been looking forward to the return of the self-healing mutant superhero Wolverine. "Wolverine 3" has been in talks for quite a while now, but there was so little progress about the film. According to new reports, two characters will be added in "Wolverine 3" and its plot will be set in the future timeline.

"Wolverine 3" Is Set In The Future

ScreenRant reported that "Wolverine 3" would be set in the future. Simon Kinberg noted that "X-Men: First Class" was set in the 60s, while "X-Men: Apocalypse" was set in the 80s. The upcoming "Wolverine 3" will be set in many years after those movies. Per the report, "Wolverine 3" will base its plot in the "Old Man Logan" comic book storyline.

Two New Characters Will Join "The Wolverine 3"

Den of Geek reported that the "Narcos" star Boyd Holbrook would be joining the cast of "Wolverine 3." In fact, he will have a big role because he will be playing the film's villain. At the time, the details about "Wolverine 3" are very limited but per Deadline, Holbrook's character was described as "a relentless, calculating and intense head of Security for a global enterprise who is set against Jackman's clawed Wolverine/Logan hero."

Aside from Holbrook, a female actress is expected to join the cast of "Wolverine 3." ComicBook.com reported that the production has casting calls for a female character. They are looking for Caucasian, Hispanic or Asian females in their 20s. Based on the description, fans speculated that "Wolverine 3" will feature X-23 on the big screen, Yibada reported.

Who Is X-23?

Laura Kinney a.k.a X-23 is the female genetic clone of Logan. The character made a debut in "X-Men: Evolution" and has eventually made it into the comics. She is a member of "X-Men" and "Avengers" via Avengers Academy, where she uses the "Wolverine" alias. X-23 being Wolverine's clone has the same abilities as Logan when it comes to animal senses, healing factor and razor bone claws.
