Angelina Jolie 'Maleficent 2': Brad Pitt's Wife Returns As 'Sleeping Beauty' Villain

Angelina Jolie has signed up to bring back her blockbuster role in "Maleficent 2." According to Disney, "Sleeping Beauty" will see Brad Pitt's wife once more as Angelina Jolie replays her villainy in "Maleficent 2."

New York Daily News reports that "Maleficent 2" had been a buzz in the pipeline for some time now. The news the Disney commissioned a script for the sequel made the rounds as early as summer of last year.

Angelina Jolie was reportedly unsure that "Maleficent 2" would happen. According to Brad Pitt's better half, the first "Maleficent" film had been quite well done and felt that it left no need for a sequel.

Angelina Jolie also revealed that "Maleficent" is the one Disney film she wanted to do. When the "Tomb Raider" star had contemplated doing a Disney film, "Maleficent" was the type of movie that Angelina Jolie had in mind.

The Guardian suggests that "Maleficent 2" may be one of the few remaining times that fans will see Angelina Jolie in a movie role. This comes from an observation that Angelina Jolie films had not been appearing in as many films as the public would want.

This said, "Maleficent 2" should aim to showcase Angelina Jolie not just as a star but also as an actress. The media agency points out that "Maleficent" indeed made a loud noise in the box office. Admittedly, "Maleficent" did not do Angelina Jolie much justice as an actress.

Needless to say, a second chance with Angelina Jolie in "Maleficent 2" should bring about a two-fold expectation. Fans have had a long wait to see Angelina Jolie shine in a role once again.
