Nexus 7 2016 Specs, Release News & Update: New Tablet Launches In May With Force Touch?

Google's Nexus 7 hasn't had any releases since its second generation tablet came out in 2013. Understandably, users are raring to see new things about the device and there have been speculations that it might come out this May. The Nexus 7 might also have a Force Touch feature.

Google has not confirmed a release date for the Nexus 7 2016, but there could be something waiting in the wings for the lovers of the tablet on May. The timing is said to coincide with Google's annual developer conference, where the company usually makes product announcements, per Android Central. The said event is happening in May 18 to 20, as per Google Events.

Android Central also reports that Google has filed a trademark for a "Huawei 7P," which analysts take to mean as the Nexus 7 2016. Huawei has been Google's partner in improving its Nexus products, which started with the Nexus 6P.

Nexus 7 2016 Wishlist And Speculated Specs

Product-Reviews notes that Google should not scrimp on the Nexus 7 2016 features, especially if users have been waiting for an upgrade for three years. The new tablet should have, among other things, long battery life, a lighter weight, but it should also retain the same size.

As Apple improves on its camera features, so should the Nexus 7 2016. Its camera features must also be improved to cater to millennials who love taking selfies, but it should be packed with features that will make it user-friendly for businessmen.

So far, speculations are that the Nexus 7 2016 will carry either a 5.1 or 7 inch screen and will run with a Snapdragon 820 SoC chip and a Tegra X1 processor from NVIDIA. It will also have an Android N system with 4 GB RAM and 3000 mAH battery, per The Christian Times.

Nexus 7 2016 Has Force Touch?

Force Touch technology was first developed by Apple for its smart devices and Nexus 7 is said to be adapting the same system in its new table release, per The Bitbag. It is unclear how this technology will be incorporated in a Google device since Apple holds the trademark to Force Touch.

Take all these speculations with a grain of salt as Google has yet to give an official word. Check out the video below for more rumored upgrades on the Google Nexus 7:
