Nintendo NX Release Date, News & Update: 5 Top News To Know Including Launch Date, Games And New U-Shaped NX Controller

Nintendo has officially announced that the Nintendo NX will be launching March 2017 globally. The company also said that they will be focusing on one game at the E3 event in June. The confirmation comes as images of a u-shaped controller, believed to be for the NX, leaked online. With so much Nintendo NX news happening in one day, here are five things you have to know.

1. Nintendo NX Official Worldwide Launch.

Nintendo made is announcement about the new gaming console in an Investor Relations Information notice made on its official site April 27. "For our dedicated video game platform business, Nintendo is currently developing a gaming platform codenamed 'NX' with a brand-new concept," one of the notices stated.

"NX will be launched in March 2017 globally," it continued. The company is opting to still call the console as NX, its production codename.

2. Nintendo NX Won't Be At The E3.

Gamers hoping to get a glimpse of the NX this June at the annual E3 event will be left disappointed. Apparently, the company said they will only be presenting one product, their famous game "Legend of Zelda."

It will be one of the first games released with the Nintendo NX and fans will be able to test it at the event via the Wii U console. There are no other new announcements for other rumored Nintendo NX games like "Super Mario 3D World," "Super Mario Maker" and "Splatoon."

3. Nintendo NX Might Come With A U-Shaped Controller.

Nintendo executives have promised that the NX will be a completely different machine that will change console gaming. When Nintendo released its devkit to game developers in October, it was hinted that the unit will be a console/mobile gadget hybrid, per The Wall Street Journal.

However, an alleged image of its game controller made its way in the NeoGAF forum. It shows a U-shaped controller with built-in sensors.

Nintendo has apparently patented the design and technology for this, but has not confirmed whether this is for the NX. Details to the patent are made public on Patent Scope.

4. Nintendo NX To Run With A Polaris GPU? Not Quite.

Polaris GPU is of superior speed and power. It's one that can top the PlayStation, which is already deemed as the most powerful console. But in another NeoGAF discussion, an insider supposedly denied this is the case. "The gimmick is made up. GPU is wrong. Power level is wrong," a member wrote in the forum.

5. Nintendo NX Additional Information Will Be Out In Q3-Q4.

While the console will not be at the E3, the company promised additional information will be released in the later months this year, as stated in the financial report. Fans and analysts were expecting the new console to be out before the holidays, but Nintendo's new plans should boost is last quarter earnings for the fiscal year.
