Amanda Bynes' DUI charges dropped after actress pleads 'no contest'

Amanda Bynes' DUI charges were dropped after the actress pled "no contest," Entertainment Wise reported.

The 27-year-old spent months in rehab and received treatment for her bipolar disorder and schizophrenia last year before she was finally discharged in December. Later this month, she is due to stand trial for an incident that took place back in April 2012.

Rich Hutton, Bynes' lawyer, appeared in a court in California to accept a plea of "wet reckless" on behalf of the actress, according to TMZ. The lawyer told The New York Daily News that her client is doing well.

"This case took some unexpected turns, but it's resolved. Everything is going just like it should," he said.

Under the terms of the deal, Bynes will be placed on three years probation, attend a three-month alcohol education course and pay various fines.

Bynes' license was suspended because she refused to submit to an alcohol test at the time of her arrest, TMZ reported.

The actress's mom, Lynn Bynes, is currently taking control of her daughter's well-being and finances.

According to the Daily Mail, a source said Amanda's parents are pleased that their daughter's life is more stable but believe she is not ready to move out of their house any time soon.

"It's not likely that she will be moving out of their house for at least the next several months," the source said.

Just recently, Bynes started taking a fashion design course in Orange County and has been commuting there every day.

"It's only one class, but it's enough to keep Amanda busy," an insider said. "When not in class or at the doctor, Amanda has been frequenting the gym. Her parents have told friends they feel that they have their beloved daughter back for the first time in years."
