Amir Khan Vs Canelo Alvarez: British Boxer Calls Floyd Mayweather Jr. 'Bitter'

British boxer Amir Khan called undefeated fighter Floyd Mayweather Jr. "bitter" with his upcoming fight with Canelo Alvarez. Khan said his match could also be the reason why Pretty Boy is thinking about returning to boxing after his retirement.

Amir Khan, who is scheduled to fight Canelo Alvarez on Saturday, told The Guardian that his reaction about Floyd Mayweather's recent statement of reconsidering to return to fighting. "I think [Mayweather] is a little bit bitter," Amir Khan added. The 29-year-old boxer explained that Floyd Mayweather could be having this feeling because of the latter's fight with Canelo Alvarez.

"He is walking and driving around Las Vegas, and people are talking about [my] fight with Canelo. He has probably seen the big poster at the MGM, and now it is me and Canelo," Amir Khan said. "I remember him saying a long time ago he wanted to be the first guy to fight at this new arena."

He continued that since people are not anymore talking about him, Floyd Mayweather is now craving for attention. The undefeated boxer's possible return to the ring, as per Amir Khan, could be due to his desire to again earn the limelight.

"That is why he is saying these things now to try to get people talking about him again," shared Amir Khan. "I'm sure he is missing it. This used to be his day. Wasn't it this date when he fought Manny Pacquiao last year?"

According to Daily Mail, Floyd Mayweather has been engaged in talks with some TV networks for a prize that will make him ditch his retirement and go back to boxing. It noted that the fighter could be asking for a $100 million guarantee, which reportedly is lower than what the Showtime and CBS granted him with his victory against Manny Pacquiao in May last year.

Amir Khan believes that the Pretty Boy will again fight based on his recent statements. The British fighter is certainly hoping he could seal a match with Floyd Mayweather, which has been his goal since last year.
