Pregnancy Updates: Transgender Man Finds Out He Is Pregnant In The Middle Of Transition; Gives Birth To A Baby Girl

Lots of transgender men have come out this year, but not all of them came out pregnant, especially not while transitioning. This is the story of a transgender man from Iceland named Henry Steinn, 19.

Pink News featured the 19-year-old Steinn and his story about being pregnant and giving birth as a transgender man. He happened to know that he was pregnant with his boyfriend, Doddi while he was in the middle of transitioning.

Getting Pregnant Mid-Transition

He had no idea he was carrying a baby for months. But it was a good thing that he hasn't taken any testosterone that time because his doctors were yet to schedule him for it.

According to Gay Iceland, Steinn was counting just a couple of months to go for the testosterone treatment when he found out he was pregnant. He said that if had it earlier, there is a huge chance that he won't be pregnant, but it's not impossible not to happen.

Transition On Hold

The 19-year-old decided to pause the hormone therapy because it might affect his pregnancy. On April 13, he gave birth to a healthy baby girl after laboring for 26 hours. He delivered the baby via C-section.

The now teenage dad was shocked the first time he learned about his pregnancy but was grateful to have his own child. He is getting all the supports that he needs, especially from his consultants and psychiatrist.

Uncommon But Not The Only One

Steinn's story may be uncommon, but he is definitely not the only one who has experienced it. A Jewish transgender man from Denver also gave birth to his first baby girl earlier this year, as reported by JTA. He made sure that the hospital knows that he was a man going through labor when his water broke.

These stories just mean society is more open to possibilities these days than before. Transgender males are braver to come out on what they think of who they are even when it means that the world would wonder. What do you think of their stories? Feel free to comment below.
