WWE News 2016: Hornswoggle, Alex Riley, Zeb Colter Let Go In Cost Cutting Move

Recent WWE news revealed that several wrestlers were recently released by the company in its attempts to save more on costs. The event was dubbed as the latest “Black Friday” among WWE wrestlers under contract.

In WWE news, the company reportedly let go of various performers who are not included in any future plans to allow more roster space as well as save on costs.

Hornswoggle, Alex Riley, Zeb Colter Laid Off

CageSideSeats wrote that Dylan “Hornswoggle” Postl, who played Vince McMahon’s alleged illegitimate son, as well as the anonymous RAW General Manager. The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion was featured in some huge stories and was also suspended for violating the Wellness policy.

Hornswoggle thanked the organization and supportive people who helped him in his decade-long tenure in the WWE.

“WWE gave me a life that no one would ever imagine I’d live. I should have never made it, but I did and I did that and much more,” he wrote on Twitter in recent WWE news.

Kevin “Alex Riley” Kiley was also released. The wrestler, who many may be familiar with as The Miz’s personal assistant, had a number of roles in the past year. He also had an attitude problem and had trouble with some big names backstage, like John Cena.

Other Wrestlers Who Were Let Go

Zeb Colter, Damien Sandow, Cameron, El Torito, King Barrett, Cameron and Santino Marella also had their contracts terminated, revealed Bleacher Report. According to WWE news, the talents have not been seen in the company’s main roster programming for a long time.

Barrett shared that his contract was set to expire in June 2016, but he decided to dissolve it a few weeks earlier. He said that he will focus on other things outside the ring, but will return if the time is right.

Damien Sandow, 34, also built a reputation in his years in the WWE. WWE news cited that he was great at communicating with the crowd and eventually won a Money in the Bank, although he did not convert his cash attempt into a championship title.

WWE news revealed that Colter last appeared in 2015 as Alberto Del Rio’s manager in Hell in a Cell. He was released after his alliance with Del Rio was dissolved.

El Torito was also let go. He had a notable match against Hornswoggle in the WeeLC match at Extreme Rules 2014. WWE news showed that Cameron, 28, was also terminated by the company.

Santino Marella, 42, was Intercontinental champion in 2007. He suffered a neck injury in 2014 which made it difficult for him to compete again. More WWE news and details are expected on the latest “Black Friday” soon.
