'Grimm' Season 5 Finale: Will 2-Hour Season Ender Save NBC Show From The Axe? 6th Season Beginning Of The End?

NBC may be marking the beginning of the end of the crime-fantasy series when the "Grimm" season 5 finale airs. Unless the two-hour "Grimm" season 5 ender rallies viewership, the show may get the proverbial axe.

Den Of Geek reports that "Grimm" season 6 has been confirmed by NBC. Interestingly, "Grimm" season 6 only has 13 episodes lined up.

Although "Grimm" enjoyed loyal audience support since season 1, the NBC favorite suffered lack of focus in seasonal plots. To be sure "Grimm" was never short in entertainment. The CGI and effects in "Grimm," especially in its exploration of the Wesen culture, remain among the genre show's strongest points.

However, the "Grimm" plot of following the enmity between the royals and the Wesen revolutionaries, the subplot of the keys and the general dynamics of the cast lack kick. The seemingly whimsical and winding direction of the show is now costing "Grimm" dearly.

An unfavorable time slot and the effects of the above factors were among the obstacles that "Grimm" season 5 had to work through. By the looks of things, "Grimm" season 5 ratings have been a shade unforgiving.

The "Grimm" season 5 finale has one last opportunity to give the series a fighting chance. Carter Matt reports that the two-hour "Grimm" season 5 finale is an unintentional by-product the prioritized airing of "Adele: Live in New York City."

Nonetheless, the two-hour "Grimm" season 5 finale should hopefully convince fans and the producer that season 6 should be a preparation for the end. If the Wesen and Black Claw face off delivers as much as it has been promising, "Grimm" may be able to prove that it is not ready to be put to sleep.

"Grimm" season 5 finally, "Bad Night," will air on May 13, 2016. David Giuntoli (Nick Burkhardt), Russell Hornsby (Hank Griffin), Silas Weir Mitchell (Monroe), Sasha Roiz (Captain Sean Renard), Reggie Lee (Sgt. Wu), Bitsie Tulloch (Juliette Silverton), Bree Turner (Rosalee Calvert) and Claire Coffee (Adalind Schade) star in "Grimm."
