If You Want To Succeed You Must First Fail!

Surprise? Yes, many inventors, leaders, business tycoons and the like have attributed their successes in life to the many failures they've had. One Princeton professor made a CV, which may not sit well if you're looking to be accepted at a university college program, but will certainly help you see clearly how life's failures can eventually lead to success.

CV Of Failures

Johannes Haushofer, an assistant professor of psychology and public affairs, tweeted his own personal CV of failures. It was not anywhere close to a list of achievements, but a list of rejections that the professor experienced as he was treading his professional journey.

Huffington Post reported that as a preface of Haushofer's CV of failures, he said that those who failed often "attribute their own failures to themselves, rather than the fact that the world is stochastic, applications are crapshoots, and selection committees and referees have bad days." The message of Haushofer is loud and clear, that more often than not, many factors surrounding an individual contribute to the failures that they experience.

Get Up And Try Again

Although Haushofer's stance does not exonerate one's effort, or lack thereof, as a contributory factor to failure, he still emphasizes the point that people who fail must not focus on their "miserable" selves but muster the strength to get up and try again. One must not forget that failure is a stepping stone to success.

One must not be keen in comparing himself to others. There are dangers that go along these lines. Most of the time, the mistake comes about when you compare your failures to the successes of others.

Looking at this from another point of view, you only know a portion of the story of the successes of others, but you mostly know about your failures. You might not have an idea how many failures those "others" have before they have reached their successes.

You're Not Alone

According to CBN, one must not think that he is the only person in the world undergoing the difficulties he is experiencing. For example, it is not only you who has debts, as there are millions of people in the world who have one. You are also not the only one who experience sickness, as there are millions of sick people out there as well.

So just keep on fighting. Get up whenever you fall. When you fail, find strength in the fact that many successful people have experienced a lot of failures before they reached the epitome of success. Remember, failure is a stepping stone to success.
