'Emotionally-disturbed' Man Found Outside Taylor Swift's New York Apartment

Fame comes with a price and for Taylor Swift's growing fanbase with 76.8 million followers on Instagram alone, the singer-songwriter has her share of deranged fans. Recently, an "emotionally-disturbed" man was found outside her New York apartment after beating the buzzer for several times.

Aspiring Musician Was Found Outside Taylor Swift's Lush New York Apartment

Taylor Swift's security guards were troubled by the man, Lucas Vorsteveld, 25, of Bryport Vermont, who has been waiting for the pop star outside her $17.75 million apartment in Tribeca, New York. According to New York Daily Times, NYPD officials came over and described Lucas Vorsteveld as "emotionally-disturbed." They took him to Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital after he said that he "belonged there (Taylor Swift's home)" and that the singer can help him with his music career.

New York Daily Times further reported that the man was said to have had a history of schizophrenia. He has not taken his medication for the mental disorder as of late. Police authorities said that criminal charges against the man are unlikely to be filed.

Taylor Swift Attends BMI Awards Night At Los Angeles

As per NME, Taylor Swift was not in her New York apartment that time as she was receiving an award under her honor from BMI Pop Awards held in Beverly Hills, California. In the press release of the awards night, BMI writes "Taylor Swift has transformed pop culture through her songs, artistry and indomitable spirit. She has had a profound impact, not only musically, but also through her personal conviction and commitment to creating a standard that values and respects music for everyone. We felt it appropriate to award Taylor with an honor that is as unique and special as she is."

Taylor Swift took to Instagram to express her gratitude, posting a video of her accepting the award.  She captions, "BMI created an award called The Taylor Swift Award because BMI is very very nice."

Taylor Swift And Her History Of Trespassers

According to the New York Daily Times, this was not the first time that Taylor Swift had an unwanted visitor. Last February, another aspiring musician visited her Beverly Hills abode to pitch his music but instead of a musical stardom, the man gained the attention of the police.

As reported by Huffington Post, Taylor Swift is no newbie in terms of dealing with not so friendly strangers. Back in 2012, a man climbed the fence of what's likely to be her Nashville home. In 2013, another stranger swam to reach her beachfront property in Westerly, Rhode Island. And in 2014, Taylor had a stalker who claimed to be her husband that can kill anyone who attempts to ruin their so-called relationship.

It's cool to be Taylor Swift for a day but definitely, hers is not a safe life to live. Would you trade your safety for popularity? Share us your views on the Comments section below.
