Despite the rumors that Lionsgate is eagerly pushing to make "Saw 8: Legacy," no director is currently connected to the sequel. Scribe Leigh Whannell, who has been rumored to be one of the executive producers of the upcoming installment along with Wan, even appears to be uninformed and hasn't heard of "Saw 8: Legacy" yet.

Meanwhile, it remains unclear if "Saw 8: Legacy" will be a reboot or a sequel. But according to Den of Geek, Lionsgate enlists "Piranha" and "Sorority Row" screenwriters Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger to write a screenplay for the upcoming film.

Director James Wan and scribe Leigh Whannell, on the other hand, will serve as "Saw 8: Legacy" executive producers. However, no plot details have been revealed yet and it's still unclear if Tobin Bell will return in "Saw 8: Legacy" to play the role of the notorious murderer, Jigsaw.

As for "Saw 8: Legacy release date, it has been mentioned above that Lionsgate has yet to announce any dates of release. But Movie Web teases that "Saw 8: Legacy" will hit the cinemas in 2017.
