Vanessa Hudgens News & Update: 'Grease: Live' Actress Pays $1,000 For Rock Carving

After carving a heart into a rock wall in Arizona, actress Vanessa Hudgens was forced to pay a $1,000 fine. Her action came into light after she posted a photo of it on Instagram.

Time said Hudgens carved the heart and the text "Vanessa + Austin" into a red rock wall during a trip with her boyfriend Austin Butler last Valentine's Day in Arizona. Vanessa Hudgens posted this on Instagram along with other trip photos.

"[Vanessa Hudgens] was caught in the act because she publicized it and she's famous," said Coconino National Forest Service spokesperson Brady Smith. "I'm sure there are others who are not famous and publicized it and we've never known."

It was added in the Time report that the "High School Musical" actress was given a citation for damaging a natural feature on US Forest Service land. The money that Vanessa Hudgens paid will be given to a volunteer group that will remove the carving on the rock.

According to People, the original fine for this violation is six months jail time and a $5,000 fine. However, it was noted that the "Spring Breakers" actress admitted the violation and even told the authorities where to find the rock carving. Vanessa Hudgens and officials of the national forest reportedly agreed on the matter last April 19 but details were not revealed to the public until this week.

In addition, Huffington Post mentioned that there were other rocks which were vandalized inside the park. Authorities said they were only able to penalize Vanessa Hudgens because she posted the photo on Instagram. The post has been taken down by the "Grease: Live" actress but netizens have already taken a screenshot of her Instagram picture.

Despite the fine she had to pay, the same report said there is also some good news for Vanessa Hudgens whose comedy "Powerless" has started airing on ABC last May 11. The 27-year-old actress plays the role of Emily Locke, an insurance claims adjuster who exists in a world of superheroes and their enemies.
