Billboard Music Awards: Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton Sing Romantic Rendition Of 'Go Ahead And Break My Heart'

Celebrity couple Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton performed a moving and heartwarming performance of their duet "Go Ahead and Break My Heart" during the 2016 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night. The singers looked so in love while they were performing their first collaboration.

US Weekly said the country singer and the No Doubt vocalist had their eyes locked on each other during the entire performance. Shelton also embraced his 46-year-old girlfriend after their song.

Sporting a Nikki Lund outfit, Shelton played his guitar while Stefani donned a stunning dress that sparkled during the performance. Another noticeable thing about the female singer is that she did not wear her red lipstick but chose a nude color for her lips.

According to People, the crowd felt the love and the heat in the performance of the couple who were obviously not nervous entertaining the audience. They first sang the piece in an episode of "The Voice" where Shelton admitted that they felt really nervous.

"We're a little bit nervous about it, but nervous in a way that we can't wait and nervous in a way that we hope people think it's as good as we think it is," the 39-year-old country singer said. "It's like people getting a look at something personal for the first time."

The country singer also told Entertainment Tonight that he started writing the song just to impress Stefani and did not know that it would materialize and make it this big. "I wrote about half of it and sent it to her and she wrote the other half of it. It was just kind of something for she and I to help us feel better about what we were going through."

Sharing about their rehearsals, the country superstar said they had to fight smiling during the performance since they could not believe that they actually have a duet. "It's cool to be witness to something that's this honest and fun," Shelton added.
