‘Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown’ Vietnam Episode: US President Barack Obama And Renowned Chef Shared Dinner At Hanoi, Guess Who Foot The Bill?

Chef Anthony Bourdain had a special dinner guest on Monday night in Hanoi, Vietnam. The "Parts Unknown" host was spotted dining with United States President Barrack Obama on a street side eatery, which cost Bourdain $6 afterwards.

Chef Anthony Bourdain Meets President Barack Obama

According to Fox News, the popular host of the "Parts Unknown" met with U.S. President Barack Obama during his Presidential visit in Vietnam on Monday night. The two popular personalities met in Hanoi and sat down to discuss the President's trip to Asia. Inside the street-side restaurant called Bun cha Huong Lien, Bourdain and President Obama discussed various interests like people, food and culture over "bun cha" and some Hanoi beer.

The Guardian said that President Obama slipped away from his hectic schedule on Monday night and sampled the popular local dish. While the 54-year old owner of Bun cha has served countless bowls of her pork noodle soup, she was completely astonished to see the U.S. president that night. Although Nguyen Thi Lien knew that Bourdain and his television crew was on the way. "His presence in our restaurant was a great surprise for my whole family, who could never have imagined it, even in our dreams," she told AFP on Tuesday. As a result of the visit, the street-side eatery was surrounded by a large crowd. The U.S. Secret Service and local police closed down the streets surrounding Bun Cha that night.

So, Who Paid For The Tab?

On his Twitter post, Bourdain confirmed that he paid for the $6 tab. "Total cost of bun cha dinner with the President: $6.00. I picked up the check," the "Parts Unknown" host later tweeted. Bourdain is known for his love of cheap street side food.
